Trust in media: an analysis of the determinants of perceived media credibility

This diploma thesis "Důvěra v média: analýza determinantů vnímané důvěryhodnosti médií" deals with the issue of trust in the media among the population aged 20-30. This age group is defined based on developmental psychology as young or early adulthood. The diploma thesis asks how members of the selected target group trust the given media and what this perceived trustworthiness is conditioned by. The diploma thesis is divided into a theoretical and an analytical part. In its introduction, the theoretical part deals with the central topic of this diploma thesis, which is trust in the media. There is also focus on a interdisciplinary links (trust studies), approaches to research on trust in the media, characteristics and results of trust research in the Czech Republic. It also deals with the definition of the concept of trust, its functions in society and its concept in various fields such as sociology, political science, psychology and anthropology. At the end, the theoretical part offers the necessary anchoring of the topic from the point of view of media theory by means of the definition of the function and effects of the media on society and the dual broadcasting system. Multimedia Elements of Online News and Their Impact on the Recipients

Diploma thesis Multimedia Elements of Online News and Their Impact on Recipients is concerned with the transformation of today's information distribution thanks to the development of the Internet. Media institutions use this tool as means of disseminating their messages. For the same reason they also include multimedia elements to the content. Websites allow to quickly pass on information to a large number of users. Multimedia elements, such as photos, photo galleries, videos or infographics, allow to pass on additional information, but also to catch the attention of the recipients. The aim of this study is to find out how much the audience appreciates the contribution of multimedia elements and how much they can use them during processing of the information. The theoretical part therefore first defines the particular cognitive processes, such as attention, perception and memory of news articles readers. These are further reflected with the different characteristics and social background of the news content recipients. Equally important is the description of theories and researches that dealt with the influence of multimedia elements on recipients of various types of media. Framing of immigration in Czech daily newspapers

The analysis "Framing of immigration in Czech daily newspapers" reveals how Czech daily newspapers framed so called migration crisis in Europe in 2015 when the immi- gration issue belonged to the most important issues in both Czech and foreign news media. This thesis draws from theoretical and analytical concept of media framing and concept of Agenda setting which deal with aspects used by media in describing reality, and their media effects on public opinion. Quantitative content analysis of five national daily newspapers revealed that immi- gration issue was represented mainly as international political problem, followed by security threat as the second most frequent topic of news on immigration. In almost all news articles the immigration issue was framed as problem, whereas cause frame and solution frame were present in approximately a quarter of news on immigration. Czech and foreign politicians and government sources were the most cited or para- phrased actors in Czech daily newspapers. On the other hand, refugees, immigrants and ci- tizens were less frequent speakers, and experts rarely commented on the issue of immigration in Czech daily newspapers. Children in magazines for parents in 2013

The main aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the way that magazines for parents communicate with their readers and to identify the role of the representation of children. A selection of articles representing both commercial and noncommercial communication is analyzed using the method of semiotic analysis. The introductory part of the thesis, briefly presenting the history of media research, is followed by a section describing the way that motherhood and the status of a child has been perceived throughout history, with special attention to the influence of Christianity. Following chapters focus on the changes of the social role of women that enabled the rise of women's periodicals, both in the USA, Europe and also in the Czech lands. The part dedicated to legislation introduces the most significant legal definitions of children and childhood in relation to media. The analytical part of the thesis is preceded by a brief characterization of the selected magazines and an explanation of the method of semiotic analysis. Mediatization of the Politic Sphere

This Diploma Thesis "Mediatization of Political Sphere" deals with the systematic influence of mass media and their logic on the functioning of the political system, process development and implementation of policy instruments and methods of political communication. First of all the theoretical part is focused on the description of the institutional importance of media in the social environment, more properly introduces images of the effects of media communications in the society, characteristics of the participation of media organizations in the economic relations so that the concept of mediatization in the frame of media studies could be defined and to specify its aspects in connection with a set of knowledge of media logic. The thesis does not omit the introduction of basic logic elements of political sphere, it also deals with its implicit settings, as well as modifications of the political structures in response to transfer a large part of the policy enforcement into the symbolic space of the media.
